GEMMA MASTER’S POSTCOLONIAL FEMINISMS SUMMER SCHOOL

Granada, 29 June – 3 July 2009.
Gemma, the Master’s Degree in Women’s and Gender Studies, opens the period
for enrolment for the Summer School to be held in Granada (Spain) from the
29th of June to the 3rd of July 2009, with 5 ECTS-credits for students of
the Gemma Master’s (for other academic accreditation, please ask for
information). This course is entitled Postcolonial Feminisms, that is to
say, it will focus on studying feminist critical thought created on the
peripheries. That is why special care has been taken to invite teachers
from different countries to participate. They will show us the political
and theoretical diversity of postcolonial feminisms. The course aims to:
get to know and understand postcolonial feminisms and the
gender-culture-imperialism/colonialism relationship; qualify students in
the use of postcolonial feminism’s theory and methods. Special attention
will be paid to providing a command of conceptual resources; providing
students with skills for gender mainstreaming in a globalised world;
